Hey from Kenny

Apologies for not being a more diligent blogger, tweeter, fb’er etc. I’ve been feelin’ the electro bug lately – if any of you are into some rpm/beats et al – I do my own special brew… some love it, some find it a bit too retro…  I do what I do – just as in jazz. I just put out an online-only release of Christmas material called “Nativity Set”. If you’ve got 2 bucks and feel like taking a chance on some new holiday music – you can get it here.

I’ve written some new jazz music that will hopefully get recorded sometime this year – also contemplating remastering some of the tracks off of KMT II since most of the world hasn’t heard any of it – some of it is pretty hoppin’ (Savino/Higginbottom lineup). Some of it definitely needs to be re-recorded. If you haven’t heard tracks from it you can download “I Want More of You” for free. Check out Chris’s snappin’ solo right up front!

Special thanks to Radio Swiss Jazz for putting “Sarabande” into their rotation, to Chris at KFSK in Alaska for all the attention, & to all the other stations who are showing the love to  “There You Are”.

catching up

newlifeWell quite a bit has happened in the last few months. Played my last few shows on Long Island as a member of Shenole’s quartet…including a pretty sweet festival gig warming up for Joe Lovano in Huntington. Said my goodbyes, packed my aptmnt up and headed down to Palm Coast, FL where I just bought a house. My drive down was interrupted briefly by a failed fuel pump in Georgia. Could have been a disaster, but thanks to God, Garmin and a very cool mechanic in Richmond Hills named Greg – I was back on the road in 4 hours; in spite of some crazy weather in GA.

I’m pretty settled in now as is my dad – who moved in with me. I’ve spent the last 2 months hangin’ with him, or at Flagler Beach, on FB, or compulsively monitoring the continuing success of the latest cd “There You Are”. Mixed in between all that I’ve been thinking through the next trio release, including composing a few numbers; delving headlong into recording the next Seven Octaves cd and also composing/scoring music for a student’s upcoming superhero movie.

It’s definitely a welcome change of pace – working less and being more productive musically; one I have gotten used to quickly. Trying to locate some good jazz musicians that are somewhat local in Flagler or St. Augustine – if that’s you make sure to give me a holler!

Finally a very hearty thank you to the directors and djs who continue to play our music all over the country, and to anyone out there listening. A very special thanks to WPTC in Williamsport PA who have given the cd it’s first #1 position this past week, and for keeping it in their top 10 since May. Tremendous!

Thanks for stopping by! Peace – Kenny
